entry no. 1 — welcome to the chaos

the first entry. what this journal is, why i started writing things down, and the single tip that would have saved my first six plants.

this week's review

snake plant: thrives on neglect

the perfect first plant, reviewed honestly: it grew two leaves in a hallway i forgot existed.

one tip that matters

the drainage hole rule

if a pot has no drainage hole, it's not a pot — it's a vase with ambitions. whatever you put in it will eventually drown. cover pots are fine; just keep the plastic nursery pot inside.

reader question

what's the actual difference between 'bright indirect' and 'direct' light?

stand where the plant stands at midday. can you see the actual sun disc? that's direct. bright room but no sun disc? bright indirect. need to turn a light on to read? that's 'low light' and most care tags are lying about being okay with it.
